BIO

Veronika Barylo is a Ukrainian soprano currently studying on the Bachelor of Music (Vocal Studies) programme at the Royal Academy of Music under Mary Nelson and Benjamin Mead. She previously studied at the Kyiv Special Music School and later at Chetham’s School of Music following the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

Her recent performance highlights include the role of the Nightingale in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges and performances as a soloist in Bach’s Non sa che sia dolore with baroque orchestra. Veronika is a recipient of the Luxon Amit Singing Bursary for Young Singers in Folkestone, the Judith and Henry Tankel Memorial Award for Singing Excellence, the Thomas Raymond Reesby Award (Young Sounds), and the Landkreis Nordsachsen Prize at the Torgau Singer Academy. She is currently receiving coaching with Barbara Hannigan.

Thanks to her passion for music and deep understanding of cultural heritage, Veronika aims to share Ukrainian music with a global audience. She performs on various stages, showcasing both classical and contemporary works that highlight the resilience and beauty of Ukrainian music in challenging.
